Golden Gate Original Shrimp Cocktail returns to downtown Las Vegas

Fans of the iconic 99-cent shrimp cocktail at the Golden Gate hotel-casino will have a chance to relive the past this month at a downtown restaurant. 7th & Carson at 616 E. Carson Ave. has obtained the recipe for the Golden Gate Original Shrimp Cocktail and will be serving them between 5 and 6 p.m. daily in June. The Golden Gate offered the shrimp cocktails for nearly 50 years. They were served in six-ounce tulip sundae glasses with a spicy cocktail sauce and shredded cabbage. The cocktails were originally priced at 99 cents. The price was raised to $1.99 in 2008 and then to $3.99 in later years.
