Excessive Heat Warning in effect for Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The National Weather Service in Las Vegas has issued an Excessive Heat Warning in effect from 10 a.m. on Aug. 3 to 8 p.m. on Aug. 5. Temperatures in the Las Vegas valley can reach between 109 to 113 degrees with temperatures near Lake Mead National Recreation Area reaching 113 to 117 degrees. Pahrump Valley may have temperatures reaching 106 to 110 degrees with Death Valley National Park nearing 119 to 124 degrees. Heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke will be possible. People most vulnerable to heat illnesses include those who spend lots of time outdoors, those without air conditioning, young children, the elderly, and those with chronic ailments. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
